Cooling of milk is an important step in maintaining the quality of the product after milking, necessary to maintain its quality and further processing.
The main systems used:
- with direct cooling of milk, in which the refrigerant is fed into the refrigerator and takes away from the milk heat stored in the milk cooler;
- system with the use of an intermediate coolant (aqueous solution of propylene glycol). This system is the safest for cooling the finished product, as milk production eliminates contact of the finished product with freon in the event of depressurization (accident) of the freon cooling circuit of the refrigeration machine.
For cooling are used:
- tanks-coolers of milk,
- plate precoolers,
- chillers,
- ice generators,
- storage tanks.
